Journaling is really the thing I Love the most about art. It gives me freedom to do whatever I want without feeling like it’s on an expensive canvas and supposed to be “something amazing.” It’s a great way to try out different materials, and gives you the freedom to tear it out if you hate it (though I don’t recommend that because you get to see how far you’ve come!). I also Love symbolism and color. What does the red jar mean to you?
This is one of my darker paintings. It represents a state within yourself that you can’t get out of. It’s the way I feel inside my head when I have panic attacks actually. And when my anxiety gets really bad.Pretty scary stuff sometimes. But there is always that window showing you the reality of your mind and the outside world. From a line of a Radiohead song, “Just because you feel it, doesn’t mean it’s there.”
There are always new doors to open. I like the idea that even though you feel like you’re stuck somewhere in your life, you can always find a key to the door you want. It might not always be easy or within reach, but it’s attainable. I love texture, and red represents passion, energy, and love. I love running my hand across a painting…because you’re not allowed to at galleries! 🙂 I encourage anyone who sees my art to feel the texture, because that plays a whole new role into the meaning of a painting.
I used acrylic paint, tea bags, various paper, string, and a button!
I wanted this painting to show how many different “faces” or moods a person can go through. All of the faces are self-portraits but all are very different. I like the realization that there are many different sides to every person, and everyone is creative.
I used pencil, marker, tracing paper, and transfer letters.
This is my current art journal I’m working on. I love Radiohead-one of my favorite bands. I think it’s because it’s perfect journaling/painting music. This is one of the lines from the song “Lotus Flower” on the album King Of Limbs. I’ve been interested in opposites in art lately. Positive and negative space. What image does your mind create?
